Huawei Ascend P2: The fastest android phone yet

Huawei, the company manufacturing phones and other types of electronic devices has now come up with a new phone called the Ascend P2. One would have thought the company would have referred to it as the world’s thinnest phone with its 0.31 inch thickness but apparently Huawei prefered to boost about the hardware that this phone is made of. The company claims to have designed the world’s fastest phone.
The super thin device displays a 4.7 inch screen and runs on Android 4.1 with a quad-core processor of 1.5GHz speed. That is not the only hardware that makes this phone fast, its LTE cat4 chip enables it to also offer to its user an internet speed of 150 megabits per second (Mbps). That is 10 times faster that what you get from an iPhone 5. At least that is what the company says. This 4G LTE technology will not be available for most users anyway since there are not many networks offering it yet but it is still interesting to know that the phone is already designed for it.

The phone offers 2 cameras, one on the front and one on the back. The back camera is a 13 megapixel sensor with HDR shooting. The battery is a 2,420 mAh. It is quite surprising Huawei didn’t try to recapture its title of thinnest phone that it claimed with the Ascend P1. The P2 still remains quite thin with a better hardware that is.
When it comes to the screen the company also promises a high contrast to enable users to use it outdoor on a sunny day. It doesn’t end there, it comes with a 85-degree viewing angle, a brightness of 500 nits and a Gorilla Glass 2 on top of it to makes sure it doesn’t easily get scratched. Yet the screen is sensitive enough that one could use it even when wearing gloves. The P2 has a sleek look and a glossy finish with a screen that extends to the edges giving the display an expansive feel.

There is one weak point though compared to other high end phones. That is the screen resolution is 1,280 x 720 instead of 1,920 x 1,280 but to defend itself Huawei explained that the human eye can’t see that much higher resolution.
When it comes to the camera, one can take a shot just by double clicking the handset camera button. There is also a facial recognition technology that enables the phone to recognize faces and group them into categories and the user can even choose to associate them with his contacts recorded in the phone. Aside the HDR mode the camera is also backside illuminated to improve its performance even when the ambient light is low.
With the 16 GB internal memory integrated you might not need to buy an SD card for a very long time.
It is quite interesting that when looking at certain a distance, this phone does not seem to have any outer navigation button. For those who took a hold of the device, they noticed that is was extremely light, with a longer, slimmer profile that is easy to hold in the hand.
The device is expected for the second quarter of this year. The exact price has not yet been revealed but its been estimated to be around 399 euros ($525). For U.S. users they will have to order it online.
